Hi NOVA, would you be able to join me for lunch tomorrow at noon in the principal's office? We can discuss the following concepts, and I will arrange for a teacher to act as our interpreter.

These concepts will help you understand the current state of elementary education in Taiwan, encompassing the nation's expectations for education as well as the unique characteristics of each school.

Every teacher must gradually accumulate experience over a period of seven to nine years before becoming an expert. This is a process of progressively gaining experience, not something that happens instantly. Therefore, the principal explaining these concepts to you reflects a hope that together we can ponder methods to implement these concepts, and then put them into practice and experiment with them.

The purpose of our current discussion is not to evaluate your teaching effectiveness, but rather to collaboratively brainstorm what additional actions can be taken that would be beneficial for the children.

Q: Do you understand the meaning of "learning performance" and "learning content" in the English domain of the curriculum guidelines?

Q: Are you familiar with the Ministry of Education's "Curriculum Guidelines," and the differences between the school's "Specialty Courses" and "School-Based Curriculum"?

Q: Do you understand the concept of "independent learning"? How do you facilitate independent learning among your students? What assistance would you like from us to achieve this?

Q: Are you aware of our "Specialty Courses"? How do you incorporate these specialty courses into your English teaching? What support would you like from us to accomplish this?


Q: Do you understand the concept of "issue-integrated teaching"? Are you aware of how to implement it? We have 12 topics that need to be integrated into teaching at all times.
